OSCE extends Observer Mission mandate at Gukovo, Donetsk checkpoints until late September

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on Thursday extended the mandate of the OSCE Observer Mission at the Russian checkpoints Gukovo and Donetsk in Rostov region until September 30, 2019.

Ukrinform learnt this from the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the International Organizations in Vienna.

"During the meeting of the Permanent Council on Thursday, it was decided to extend the mandate of the OSCE Observer Mission at the checkpoints of Gukovo and Donetsk until September 30, 2019," the report reads.

According to the decision, the Mission’s mandate remains unchanged. The observers will monitor the situation and movement across the border at two Russian checkpoints and inform this in their reports.

As reported, the Observer Mission has been carrying out its activities since July 29, 2014, in accordance with the decision of the OSCE Permanent Council, adopted by consensus.
