‘Easter ceasefire’ to be discussed in Minsk on April 24

The Easter ceasefire in Donbas will be discussed again at a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on April 24.

The Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), Ambassador Martin Sajdik said this at a press conference following the TCG’s video conferencing meeting on April 18, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Unfortunately, the parties failed to reach a consensus [on announcing the Easter ceasefire]. They only agreed to continue their discussions during the next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk on April 24,” the statement says.

According to the ambassador, the TCG and its working group on security discussed a number of proposals with a view to agreeing a joint statement of the TCG with the participation of representatives of certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, which confirms the commitment of the parties to the ceasefire regime on the Easter holidays."
