Ukrainian Navy strategy elaborated in close cooperation with experts from NATO member states

The Ukrainian Navy Development Strategy is being elaborated in close cooperation with the experts from the United States, the United Kingdom and other NATO member states.

"We are building up the Ukrainian Navy in accordance with the latest priorities. All these issues are outlined in the Ukrainian Navy Development Strategy until 2035. This strategic document is being elaborated in close cooperation with the experts from the United States, the United Kingdom and other NATO member states,” Admiral Ihor Voronchenko, the Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said at the round table meeting in Odesa, the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine reports.

He added that there was a need for the balance between support for current operations and readiness for future challenges. Therefore, the fleet is developed in stages.

"At the first stage, we focus on boosting capabilities for establishing control over the territorial waters and beyond. At the second stage, we make efforts to restore and develop the capabilities for the protection of Ukraine's national interests at sea within the exclusive maritime economic zone of Ukraine," the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy said.
