Russia and terrorism are NATO's major challenges - chief of Military Committee

Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, has said that Russia and international terrorism are major challenges for the alliance.

He said this at a press conference as part of the 180th meeting of the Military Committee in Chiefs of Defense session on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent said.

"The chiefs of defense agreed that Russia and international terrorism are the two major challenges. Discussions focused on continuing to monitor Russia's posture as well, as only policy's keeping NATO-Russia military-to-military lines of communication open," he said.

He emphasized that today's security environment is unpredictable, which means that more than ever, the alliance needs to be ready and able to counter any threat or challenge from state or non-state actors.
