Ukraine, Pakistan discuss joint production of tanks

The representatives of Ukraine and Pakistan discussed bilateral cooperation in the military-industrial complex and joint production of Al-Khalid-1 tanks during the IDEAS-2018 defence exhibition.

 “The parties discussed the progress of implementation of bilateral agreements in the military-industrial complex. The prospects for future cooperation were identified. In particular, the joint production of Al-Khalid-1 tanks in Pakistan, the organization of services for the overhaul and modernization of T-80UD tanks delivered to this country in 1997-99 were discussed,” reports the press service of the State Concern “Ukroboronprom”, the association of multi-product enterprises in various sectors of the defence industry of Ukraine.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleh Hladkovsky, Federal Defence Production Minister of Pakistan Zubaida Jalal Khan and the leadership of the defence enterprises that are part of the ministry.

The IDEAS is considered to be one of the leading defence exhibitions and is held biennially. This year it will be held in Karachi and continue until November 30. The event is one of the largest in the region of South Asia and opens up significant prospects for Ukraine in the development of military-technical cooperation.
