2,911 Ukrainian soldiers killed in Donbas since start of Russian aggression

A total of 2,911 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed in the fight against the Russian aggressor in eastern Ukraine.

"2,911 Ukrainian heroes gave their lives at the front," President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during a visit to Lviv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

It’s a price for the European choice of Ukrainian people, he noted.

At the same time, the President stressed that the struggle for the independent united Ukraine continued, but expressed conviction that Ukrainians would emerged the winners.

"Ukrainian people and Ukrainian authorities will never ask Putin for permission to move towards Europe," the Head of State assured.

Poroshenko also promised that Ukraine would "act resolutely, persistently and courageously" in the fight against the aggressor.
