Malyshev Plant assembling new body of BTR-4 APC - Poroshenko

The first experimental body of the BTR-4 armored personnel carrier (APC), which has more than 400 armored parts, is already being assembled at the Kharkiv-based Malyshev Plant, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said on Facebook.

"The first experimental body of the BTR-4 armored personnel carrier is already being assembled at the Malyshev Plant in Kharkiv. The lower part of the military vehicle's body is currently being assembled and welded. In general, welders, locksmiths and instrumentalists of the plant have to connect more than 1,700 parts, including more than 400 armored parts," Poroshenko wrote.

He added that if the tests are successful, the plant will get a production permit and will be able to begin mass production of armored personnel carriers.

Poroshenko said that the Malyshev Plant, which is part of the Ukroboronprom State Concern, except for the production of the BTR-4 body, is already preparing for the welding of the experimental body of the BTR-3 APC.
