OSCE: 29 civilians killed in Donbas since beginning of year

Since the beginning of the year, 29 civilians have been killed and 109 others have been injured as a result of shelling in Donbas.

Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug announced this at a briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Last week we again witnessed human casualties. We confirmed the injury of nine civilians in the past week. Thus, 109 people have been injured and 29 have been killed this year," he said.

He also informs that since September of 2015, the observers of the OSCE SMM have recorded over 846 thousand ceasefire violations. More than 846 thousand bullets, mortar shells or artillery shells were fired, many of them - at residential areas and close to them. In many cases, mines and shells were fired from weapons, which, according to the Minsk agreements, should have been withdrawn. It is obvious that they did not do this.

He also demonstrates the images taken by the drones, which show hidden weapons that are prohibited in accordance with the Minsk agreements, as well as excavated trenches and anti-tank mines.
