U.S. Congress proposes allocating $250 mln to Ukraine

The Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress has proposed allocating $250 million to help Ukraine in the defense sector.

Ukraine's Embassy in the United States reported this on Monday, May 7, Ukrinform reports.

"The Committee on Armed Services of the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress has presented the bill on the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019. The amount of funds that is proposed to be allocated for security assistance to Ukraine, including lethal weapons, is set at $250 million, which is $100 million more than the Committee proposed to provide in the current fiscal year," the report says.

At the same time, the report notes that $50 million of this amount "is proposed to be sent exclusively for the provision of defensive lethal assistance."
