Militants launched 44 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in last day

Russian-backed militants launched 44 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area in Donbas over the past day.

In Donetsk direction, Russian-backed militants fired 120mm and 82mm mortars on Ukrainian positions near Vodiane (16km north-west of Donetsk) and Butovka coal mine (11.4km north-west of Donetsk). Terrorists also opened fire from grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms on ATO troops outside Verkhniotoretske (22km north-east of Donetsk), Vodiane (16km north-west of Donetsk), Hnutove (19km north-west of Mariupol), Kamyanka (62km south of Donetsk), Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk), Butovka coal mine (11.4km north-west of Donetsk) and Talakivka (20km north-west of Mariupol). Ukrainian strongholds outside Pavlopol (30 km northeast of Mariupol), Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk), Lebedynske (16km north-east of Mariupol) came under heavy machine gun fire, near Nevelske (18km north-west of Donetsk), Pyshchevyk (25km north-east of Mariupol), Pavlopol (30 km northeast of Mariupol), Lebedynske (16km north-east of Mariupol) – under small arm fire, and near Krasnohorivka (29 km west of Donetsk) and Marinka (35 km south-west of Donetsk) – under sniper fire.

In Luhansk direction, terrorists fired 120mm and 82mm mortars at ATO troops near Troitske (69km west of Luhansk), Popasna (90 km north-west of Luhansk) and Novooleksandrivka (65km west of Luhansk). Militants also used grenade launchers and heavy machine guns to shell ATO troops near Novozvanivka (70km west of Luhansk) and air defense guns and small arms – near Novoselivka (66km south of Donetsk).

Four Ukrainian soldiers were wounded and another one was injured in enemy shelling. The soldiers were immediately taken a hospital where they received the necessary medical assistance.
