The contract for provision of two Island-class patrol boats has been finalized, the command of the Naval Forces of Ukraine announced.

"We will receive the boats free of charge, but their transportation, crew training, and other related costs are covered by the state," said Commander of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Ihor Voronchenko, the press service reports.

As noted, the U.S. Department of Defense has already been informed about the readiness of the Ukrainian side to receive the boats under stipulated terms.

"We expect the US to announce the date of the final conference on elaboration of the main terms of the contract, during which it is planned to determine the final costs associated with the transfer of the boats and performance time," the statement reads.

The process of transfer of the boats will start after the contract is signed. This process also includes training of the personnel who will serve on the Island-class patrol boats.
