Petro Tsygykal: 70 border guards killed since ATO began

Since the start of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine, 70 servicepersons of the State Border Guard Service have been killed, 429 have been wounded and five more are missing.

Head of the State Border Guard Service, Petro Tsygykal, said this in an interview with 112.ua.

“Since the start of the war, five border guards are missing. Unfortunately, we don’t know if they are alive. But until we know for sure, we have a hope and we will consider them missing. 70 [border guards] were killed, 429 were wounded,” he said.

Tsygykal added that 19,000 servicepersons of the State Border Guard Service had already participated in the ATO in Donbas.
