Nobody deprives Ukrainian military of right to rebuff provocations - Poroshenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has congratulated fighters of the 79th separate airborne assault brigade on the Palm Sunday holiday.

The event was broadcast live on the Facebook page of the head of state on Sunday, April 1.

"I congratulate fighters of the legendary 79th brigade on the holiday. I expect that this time the Russian aggressor will adhere to the ceasefire regime. There is, of course, no confidence in Moscow. There are stars, not crosses above the Kremlin, so this is not an Orthodox place. Warriors know not worse than me that the words of their 'interlocutors' on the other side of the contact line are not worthy of a torn ruble," Poroshenko said.

He stressed that nobody deprived Ukrainian military of the right to give a worthy rebuff, on the orders of commanders, to provocations by militants.

"Moreover, it is their duty. The current ceasefire regime is no exception. Observe it, but keep your powder dry, be vigilant and do not save ammunition rounds in critical situations," Poroshenko added.

As reported, the ceasefire for the period of Easter holidays began in the conflict zone in Donbas from midnight on March 30. However, militants do not adhere to the "Easter truce."
