Spring conscription campaign kicks off in Ukraine today

Spring conscription campaign in Ukraine starts today, April 2, and will last until the end of May.

Artur Artemenko, the Head of the Main Directorate of Personnel – Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this, Ukrinform reports.

"All draft commissions will begin their work on April 2 and complete it on May 31. A total of UAH 61.6 million in spending on the conscription campaign will be transferred to the commissions by April 6," Artemenko said.

According to a government resolution, 15,190 servicemen will be conscripted into to the Armed Forces and other military formations of Ukraine in April-May for compulsory military service. In particular, 8,990 servicemen will join the Armed Forces, 1,000 - the State Special Transport Service, 1,200 – the State Border Guard Service, and 4,000 - the National Guard.

As reported, President Petro Poroshenko on February 15 signed a decree on the dismissal of previous conscripts and the dates for the next military drafts for Ukrainian citizens in 2018.
