Canada to double number of police experts in Ukraine – ambassador

Canada plans to double the number of its police experts in Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Roman Waschuk said at the meeting with Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov on March 28.

"We plan to double the number of our officers - experts in Ukraine with the view of the effective reform of the National Police of Ukraine and improvement of skills of police officers," the ambassador said, the press service of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine reports.

As ambassador Waschuk noted, Canada currently holds the G7 presidency, so it closely follows the situation in Ukraine. Ottawa is ready to support Ukraine not only on the path of reforms, but also in restoration of the territorial integrity and improvement of the economic situation, the Canadian diplomat assured.

Canada has always acted as our strategic partner in reforming the law enforcement system of Ukraine, Ukrainian Interior Minister Avakov stressed.

"We appreciate the support of our Canadian colleagues in the process of reforming the Interior Ministry and hope for further deepening of cooperation," the minister said.
