Herashchenko: 2,378 servicepersons and 138 children killed in Donbas conflict

Since the start of the conflict in Donbas, 2,378 Ukrainian servicepersons and 138 children have been killed.

First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada, Iryna Herashchenko, stated this at a briefing after the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council in Odesa, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“During the years of the war, 2,378 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, including four women. During this time, 138 children were killed. They were killed or blown up by mines. Some 1,399 women lost their husbands and 2,217 mothers lost their sons. These are terrible figures Ukraine pays for the defense of its independence,” Herashchenko said.

At the same time, she noted that the support of foreign partners, which Ukraine is counting on, should include tough sanctions against the Russian Federation and the decision on defense weapons provision to Ukraine.
