One Ukrainian soldier blown up by explosive device in ATO area

One Ukrainian soldier was seriously injured after an explosive device blew up in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone in Luhansk region over the past day.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Spokesperson for ATO issues Oleksandr Motuzianyk said this at a briefing on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"One soldier was blown up by the explosive device near the village of Lopaskyne (24km north-west of Luhansk). He was taken to a military hospital where he received the necessary medical assistance,” he said.

He added that Russian-backed militants continued to launch attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbas in last day despite the agreements of the Trilateral Contact Group on ceasefire during the New Year and Christmas holidays. In Donetsk direction, militants fired 82mm mortars and small arms on Ukrainian strongholds.
