Ukraine’s Security Service chief: 108 people still held captive in Donbas

Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak hopes that the next exchange of Ukrainian hostages will take place soon.

 “I hope that the exchange will take place as soon as possible. According to the data of the Security Service of Ukraine, 108 people are still held captive [in Donbas],” Hrytsak said on the air of TRK Ukrayina TV channel, Ukrinform reports.

He specified that the militants confirmed they hold 94 people captive.

In addition, Hrytsak noted that 402 people were considered missing. In this regard, he noted that the Security Service officers would meet with the recently released Ukrainian hostages to find out possible location of those who are considered missing.

As reported, a large-scale exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and the militants of the terrorist organizations “Donetsk People’s Republic” and “Luhansk People’s Republic” took place on the demarcation line in Donetsk region on December 27. A total of 73 people were transferred to the government-controlled territory, while 233 supporters of militants went to the temporarily occupied territory.
