Poltorak: Ukraine needs Canada's support for deployment of UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas

Ukraine needs the support of the Canadian side for settling the issue of deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas.

Ukrainian Defence Minister Stepan Poltorak said this during a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland.

"Today, during a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada Chrystia Freeland, further bilateral cooperation of the partner countries and the vision of the Ukrainian side regarding the deployment of UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas were discussed. I informed Ms. Freeland about the current situation in the country and the ongoing security reforms," Poltorak posted on Facebook.

Poltorak expressed confidence that only drastic solutions could produce a good result. "We have done much, but there are still many reforms ahead. It is difficult to carry out reforms, when armed hostilities continue and civilians and servicemen die. We need the support of the Canadian side for settling the issue of deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas. We enjoy Canada’s support in many issues, we are grateful for understanding, trust and confidence that peace will soon be restored in Ukraine," the Ukrainian defence minister noted.
