Militants launched 23 attacks on Ukrainian troops in Donbas in last day

Russian-backed militants launched 23 attacks on positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in ATO area in Donbas in last day.

"Over the past day, illegal armed groups violated the ceasefire 23 times. About ten armed provocations were launched with the use of artillery, mortars and a tank. As a result of fighting, two Ukrainian soldiers were wounded. In addition, the militants fired at the front-line villages, posing a threat to the lives of local civilian population," the statement reads.

In Luhansk direction, Russian-backed militants shelled Ukrainian positions near Zaitseve (67km north-north-east of Donetsk), using missile and cannon artillery. Terrorists also used 120mm mortars outside Lozove (13km west of Donetsk) and 82mm mortars outside Novhorodske (34km north of Donetsk) and Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk). The enemy used a tank to launch attacks near Novhorodske.

In Donetsk direction, militants fired 120mm mortars in the area of Verkhniotoretske (22km north-east of Donetsk).

In addition, Russian-terrorist troops opened fire from a wide range of infantry weapons on different front sectors, namely near Svitlodarsk (55km north-west of Donetsk), Troitske (69km west of Luhansk), Novhorodske, Krasnohorivka (29 km west of Donetsk), Starohnativka (52km south of Donetsk), Novotroitske (32km south of Donetsk) and Avdiivka (18km north of Donetsk).
