New Ukrainian drone can fire missiles

The Antonov Plant has conducted the first demonstration flight of a new drone.

The first public flight of the Horlytsia national tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was held at the airfield of the state-owned Antonov enterprise in Hostomel.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov said that the drone was capable of operating an altitude of up to five kilometers and that the range of its flight was over 1,000 kilometers.

The UAV can also fire air-to-surface missiles at the enemy.

According to UAV developers, the new drone should be part of a promising tactical aviation system.

The aviation system is intended for conducting air optoelectronic intelligence in simple and complex weather conditions, transferring intelligence information about the enemy's objects to the command post.

The system will consist of four unmanned aerial vehicles, a ground control station and support facilities.
