More than 400 civilians injured in Donbas due to hostilities since the beginning of 2017 – Hug

Since the beginning of 2017, more than 400 civilians have been injured due to hostilities in Donbas.

Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug said this at a briefing on Friday.

"The number of civilian casualties confirmed by the OSCE SMM in Ukraine reaches more than 400 people this year," Hug said.

In his opinion, the parties to the conflict refuse to fully implement the Minsk agreements. Hug also added that almost 70 meetings of the Trilateral Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine have been held in Minsk since the conflict started. However, the parties did not take advantage of these 70 chances to settle differences and overcome obstacles. "Instead of overcoming obstacles, the parties create new ones and argue," he added.
