PM Groysman: Ukraine needs ‘peacekeeping’ leadership of Canada

Canada's leadership in deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas, including on an uncontrolled area of the border with Russia, would be very important for Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said this during his stay in Toronto, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"A peacekeeping operation is a method of driving Russian mercenaries and killers out of our sovereign state. It is a top priority, and Canada's leadership would be very important in this issue," Groysman said.

In his opinion, deployment of the blue helmets in Donbas will facilitate more open situation in the temporarily uncontrolled territories in eastern Ukraine. "The presence of peacekeepers will make the situation more open, show what is happening inside, force all Russian mercenaries to leave Ukraine, go beyond the border where the peacekeeping mission will be deployed, and stabilize the situation," the Prime Minister of Ukraine explained.

As reported, Groysman currently pays a visit to Canada.
