Trilateral Contact Group to seek indefinite ceasefire in Donbas – Martin Sajdik

The Trilateral Contact Group on the settlement of situation in Donbas will continue making every effort to ensure the regime of indefinite ceasefire.

Martin Sajdik, Special Representative of the OSCE in the Trilateral Contact Group, said this to journalists after the Group's meeting in Minsk on Wednesday, BelTA informs.

According to him, the number of ceasefire violations in Donbas remains significantly low within the period since the last negotiations compared to the period before the start of back-to-school ceasefire.

"Thanks to the latest and ‘bread ceasefire’ agreed on by the Trilateral Contact Group in early summer, the number of civilian casualties has been steadily and significantly decreasing since June. According to the UN, the number of civilian casualties in September was the smallest for the entire conflict period – two killed and 16 wounded," the diplomat stated.

"Unfortunately, we cannot say that the overall situation in the conflict zone is stable, so the Trilateral Contact Group will continue making every effort to ensure the regime of indefinite ceasefire," the OSCE special envoy stressed.
