Russia disposing of ammunition in occupied territories of Ukraine

Russia is using the occupied territories of Ukraine as a landfill for the disposal of obsolete ammunition and weapons whose storage and use pose a threat to the lives of locals.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman, Colonel Andriy Lysenko, said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"A large amount of Russian ammunition (shells and mines) in unsatisfactory condition were detected in the so-called '3rd and 5th brigades' of the enemy. Their use may lead to self-detonation. This fact confirms the use by Russia of the occupied territories of Ukraine as a landfill for the disposal of outdated ammunition and weapons whose storage and use pose a threat, in particular to the lives of the local population," he said.
