Martin Sajdik: Current situation doesn’t contribute to success of Minsk process

Martin Sajdik, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) has stated that the current situation in Donbas doesn’t contribute to a peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbas.

He stated this following a sitting of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk on Wednesday.

Martin Sajdik stressed that recent events only aggravated tensions between the parties and had an adverse effect on the process of mutual rapprochement and cooperation.

According to him, the Contact Group at its sitting discussed security issues, the observance of the ceasefire regime, the implementation of an agreement on heavy weapons removal, measures to protect vitally important civil infrastructure facilities.

The Contact Group also discussed the issues of release of Donbas captives and protection of civilians, especially children.
