FM Klimkin calling for strengthening current OSCE mission in Donbas

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin states that the current OSCE mission in Donbas should be strengthened so that it can fulfil its tasks in full.

“First of all, the composition [of the mission] should be increased drastically by several times. Second of all, the armed component should be provided to mission representatives, with our consent of course. Because otherwise it’s impossible to preserve, protect weapons [withdrawn from militants] and carry out an inspection in those environment. And thirdly financial support should be provided to the mission so that it can work efficiently,” the minister noted.

At the same time, Klimkin noted some difficulties in reforming the mission because Russia has the right of vote in the OSCE composition and the decision can’t be approved without its consent.
