Ministry: almost 175,000 ATO service members received ATO combatant status

Almost 175,000 service members and staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has received the status of combatants from the beginning of the antiterrorist operation in eastern Ukraine, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Lieutenant Colonel Oleksiy Chernobay has told a briefing, Ukrinform has reported.

"Since the beginning of the antiterrorist operation, the status of the combatants has been already granted to more than 174,500 troops and staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who were deployed in the ATO zone," Chernobay said.

He noted that this status was given to 4,000 people.

In addition, the government continues to pay monetary bonuses to servicemen who carried out missions in the ATO zone. Nearly 29,700 soldiers received monetary bonuses totaling more than UAH 134 million.
