OSCE records escalation of conflict in Donbas

The monitors of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine last week recorded the escalation of the conflict in Donbas and increased number of ceasefire violations in the ATO area.

Principal Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug said this at a briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Unfortunately, we observed a recovery of escalation and use of force in the region last week," Hug said.

He informed that the incidents of use of weapons, banned under the Minsk arrangements, were often recorded near Horlivka (39 km north-east of Donetsk), 90% of those cases occurred at night.

Increased level of violence during the night was also recorded near Avdiyivka (18km north of Donetsk), Shyrokyne (20km east of Mariupol) and Stanytsia Luhanska (16km north-east of Luhansk).
