Alexander Hug: 9,500 people killed since onset of Donbas conflict

About 9,500 people have been killed and 22,000 people have been wounded since onset of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine.

Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Alexander Hug said this at a briefing on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"According to UN data, about 9,500 people have been killed since the conflict [in eastern Ukraine] began. 22,000 people have been wounded," Hug said.

He said there was a general decline in the level of violence in the conflict zone, but noted that it continued to lead to tragic consequences.
