Defence Ministry: Ukrainian Armed Forces to get over 6,000 units of armaments and military equipment this year

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive over 6,000 units of armaments and military equipment and over 2 million munitions in accordance with the state defence order for 2016.

Ukrainian Defence Ministry spokesman Oleksiy Chornobay said this at today’s briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"State-owned enterprises continue to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with new and modernized armaments and military equipment. This year, the Defence Ministry has concluded 91 contracts and an additional agreement worth more than UAH 3 billion. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will get over 6,000 units of armaments and military equipment and over 2 million munitions in accordance with the state defence order for this year," Chornobay said.

He stressed that as of today 3,000 units of armaments and military equipment had been purchased and delivered for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This equipment includes mortars, small arms, armament of armoured force vehicles, automotive equipment, tactical knives, surveillance and reconnaissance means, armored medical vehicles and munitions.
