Vershbow: NATO will never accept Russia’s occupation of Crimea

The occupation of Crimea by Russia violates the international legislation and the recognition of Ukraine’s borders by Moscow itself in 1991.

NATO Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Alexander Vershbow, said this at Kyiv Security Forum.

“I’ll very clearly state. We will never accept Russia’s military occupation of Crimea,” he stressed.

Vershbow also noted that the annexation of Crimea significantly worsened the social and economic situation on the peninsula, as well as led to the harassment of human rights, especially the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians.

At the same time, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO also noted that the social, economic and humanitarian situation in the occupied areas of Donbas is even worse.
