Kyiv police have foiled a fraudulent scheme in which participants, under the pretext of manufacturing drones, misappropriated funds from a private company that supplied UAVs to the Ukrainian army.

According to Ukrinform, the report was made by the capital's Main Directorate of the National Police.

Two residents of the Volyn region, aged 19 and 18, were found to be involved in the criminal activity. Customer funds were transferred to their accounts.

The investigation established that the fraudulent scheme was carried out under the guise of a well-known Ukrainian UAV manufacturer. Allegedly, on behalf of this brand, advertisements were published on the Internet offering customers the option to manufacture quadcopters. After receiving prepayment, the orders were not fulfilled, and communication with the contractors was interrupted.

A private company that supplies drones for military purposes transferred an advance payment of 180,000 hryvnias to the fraudsters and later sent another 430,000 hryvnias.

Law enforcement officers exposed and detained both participants in the fraudulent scheme. The money was returned to the owner.

The detainees were charged under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aiding and abetting fraud committed by a group of persons under martial law and on a large scale).

As reported by Ukrinform, a border guard from Kharkiv was exposed for illegally selling cars imported to Ukraine by charitable foundations for the Armed Forces.
