Prosecutor General’s Office asks to arrest Hrymchak with right to post bail

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine sent a motion to the Desniansky District Court in Chernihiv city to arrest deputy minister for temporarily occupied territories Yuri Hrymchak and his accomplice, Ihor Ovdiyenko, with the right to post a bail of UAH 12 million.

“We gave the motion to the suspects and sent it to the Desniansky District Court in Chernihiv with the request to arrest the suspects for 60 days with the right to post a bail commensurate with the obtained unlawful profit worth $510,000. It is slightly over UAH 12 million,” prosecutor Denys Ivanov said in a commentary to Ukrinform.

According to Ivanov, the hearing on choosing a pre-trial restriction for Hrymchak is to start on Friday at 17:00

The case against Hrymchak and his accomplice is being investigated by the Security Service of Ukraine, the prosecutor added

As reported, on August 14, the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine together with the officers of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Security Service of Ukraine detained Deputy Minister for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Yuri Hrymchak and his assistant.

According to NABU, "the individuals demanded a $1.1 million bribe from an entrepreneur for allegedly assisting in decision-making by persons authorized to perform the functions of the state.” Hrymchak and his assistant were caught red-handed receiving part of the funds in the amount of $480,000.
