Over 10,000 Ukrainian citizens arrested or convicted around the world

As of June 30, over 10,000 Ukrainian citizens were arrested or convicted for different types of crimes in different countries of the world.

"As of June 30, more than 10,000 Ukrainian citizens were arrested, detained, convicted, serving sentence in different countries of the world. This number is very big. Of them, over 6,500 people were sentenced to imprisonment," Secretary of State of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Andriy Zayats said at a briefing on Monday, August 6, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that the consular service of the Foreign Ministry examines every case, and, of course, gives priority to the politically motivated sentences, death penalty and life imprisonment sentences.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides assistance to all Ukrainian citizens abroad who need it: those guilty and not guilty, convicted on trumped-up charges, and those who have committed crimes willfully," Zayats emphasized.
