Two people detained on suspicion of killing four marines

The military prosecutor's office of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces has detained two military on suspicion of killing their fellow servicemen near Shyrokyne in Donetsk region, the Ukrainian prosecutor general's spokeswoman, Larysa Sarhan, has reported on Facebook.

She said that the detainees had already confessed to killing four servicemen of a separate marine brigade. 

"The involvement of two fellow servicemen in the murder was established after a thorough investigation into the evidence obtained. They were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigatory experiments were conducted with the participation of their defense lawyers, and during interrogations they made a confession regarding the circumstances of the murder committed on the basis of non-statutory relations of military service," Sarhan said.

She also noted that the military prosecutor's office of the ATO forces had opened a criminal case on the grounds of a criminal offense stipulated in paragraph 1, Part 2, Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder of two or more persons).

As reported, the bodies of four marines were found in a house in which they temporarily lived.
