Lviv police probe Molotov cocktail attacks on three Russian-affiliated bank branches

Law enforcement officers in the western Lviv city have been investigating the circumstances of the arson attacks on three banks in Ukraine. The issue of the initiating criminal proceedings into the incidents is being considered.

In the morning hours on February 22 , unidentified subjects burned down one bank branch and damaged another two bank branches, the press service of the national police in the Lviv region reports.

"In the downtown, the unidentified subjects at 01.10 threw a Molotov cocktail in a bank branch located on the ground floor of the building. As a result, the premise of the bank was completely burned down. Fire men succeeded in localizing the fire from spreading throughout the building," - a statement said.

This morning at 01.40  the unidentified subjects threw a "Molotov cocktail" through a window of another bank branch located in the downtown. The window was shattered and a room was covered in the soot but the liquid failed to produce flame.

Around 02.00 the unidentified subjects threw a Molotov cocktail into a bank branch premise located on Stryiska Street resulting in the  complete destruction of that room.

City police department spokeswoman Svitlana Dobrovolska noted the unidentified subjects  burned down a branch of "Sberbank of Russia" in the downtown, and also damaged two buildings where "VTB Bank" branches are located.
