Nine killed, 27 njured in overnight missile attack on Kyiv

Nine people were killed and at least 27 injured in a large-scale Russian missile attack on Kyiv overnight, with fires and destruction reported in five districts of the capital.

Ukraine's State Emergency Service said this in a post on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"Nine people were killed and another 23 injured in the Russian ballistic attack. Fires and destruction were reported in five districts of the capital," the statement said.

In the Solomianskyi district, two people were killed and eight injured, including two children. At one location, part of a five-story residential building was destroyed and a fire broke out. At another, cars caught fire in a parking lot. Three people were hospitalized. Rescuers evacuated 35 people from the upper floors and extinguished the fire.

In the Darnytskyi district, fires and destruction were reported at an administrative building and, at another location, at a non-residential building. At another address, a car caught fire and buildings were damaged. Unfortunately, seven people were killed and another 14 injured, including two children. Rescuers extinguished the fires. A crater was also found in an open area in one of the parks. Along one of the streets, roadside areas were burning in several locations.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out in a non-residential building, and several ambulances caught fire. The fire was extinguished. One person was injured at one of the locations. A fire also broke out on the grounds of a film studio and has since been contained.

In the Dniprovskyi district, a store was damaged.

In the Pecherskyi district, four private residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged.

Rescuers and all relevant emergency services are working at the sites.

Later, rescuers updated the information.

"The number of people injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack has risen to 27, including four children," the State Emergency Service said in a post.

Rescuers continue emergency response operations at the sites of the strikes. So far, 105 people have been rescued.

Information about the casualties is being specified, the post added.
