Emergency medical system collapses in occupied Luhansk region, Kharchenko says

Residents of the self-proclaimed LPR suffering from acute medical emergencies are waiting for hours for ambulances because of a shortage of vehicles and non-functioning telephone communications.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by Oleksii Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.

"The emergency medical care system in the Luhansk region is rapidly deteriorating. Due to the authorities' inaction and a shortage of ambulances, local residents, particularly elderly people, are being left without access to life-saving medical assistance. A telling example was the case of a woman suffering a severe heart attack who was unable to get medical help throughout the entire day because the dispatch service simply did not answer the phone," Kharchenko wrote.7

He added that under such conditions, critically ill patients are forced to resort to self-treatment. The relevant authorities are completely ignoring the problem and are not responding, effectively abandoning the most vulnerable segments of the population.

As Ukrinform previously reported, medicines have become scarce in pharmacies and medical facilities in the Russian-occupied areas of Luhansk region.
