Explosion occurs at Iranian port of Sirik
The explosion was heard in the area of the Iranian port of Sirik in Hormozgan Province. There are no reports of casualties.
Iranian state television reported the explosion, Ukrinform reported, citing TRT Haber.
“An explosion was heard in the area of the port of Sirik,” the report stated.
It is noted that no information regarding damage or casualties has been received.
Later, the TV channel provided an explanation from an “anonymous official” in Hormozgan Province stating that the sounds were caused by warning shots fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps at vessels violating the Strait of Hormuz.
The port of Sirik is a major port and infrastructure hub on the coast of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman in Hormozgan Province, close to the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz. This port allows Iran to export oil without passing through the Strait of Hormuz. IRGC communications facilities and infrastructure are located in the same area.
As reported by Ukrinform, the United States and Iran are signaling that an agreement to end the war is imminent: the parties have already agreed on the text of the document, and its signing could take place in the coming days.
