Russian occupiers destroy church in Donetsk region
Russian occupying forces destroyed the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in the village of Zakitne, Donetsk region, by dropping an incendiary munition onto its roof.
According to Ukrinform, the Separate Airmobile Slobozhanska Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
The attack took place on Saturday, May 30.
The Russians used a drone to drop the munition on the religious building.
"This is the same type of weapon the enemy uses to strike dugouts and wooden structures," the brigade noted.
According to the report, this is the second time a church in Zakitne has been destroyed. The first destruction occurred in the 1930s. The modern church building was constructed in 2010, when it was also consecrated.
As Ukrinform previously reported, two people were killed and four others were injured in the Donetsk region during Russian attacks over the past day.
