Over 50% of Russian aerial targets neutralized by EW systems – Ground Forces
Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) systems play a key role in air defense, neutralizing more than half of enemy aerial targets.
According to Ukrinform, this was stated in an interview with Oborontsi by Maksym Skoretskyi, Head of the Electronic Warfare Directorate of Ukraine’s Ground Forces.
“Electronic warfare can neutralize an aerial threat before it even reaches its target. It suppresses control channels, jams navigation, and disrupts video transmission. As a result, an enemy drone loses control before reaching its intended target or misses it by a significant margin,” he explained.
Skoretskyi noted that air defense is a complex, integrated system in which different elements complement each other, and EW helps reduce the effectiveness of enemy attacks at an early stage. According to him, more than 50% of enemy aerial targets are currently neutralized specifically due to Ukrainian electronic warfare capabilities.
“I would say the logic works in reverse. It is precisely because of our success that the Russians are forced to develop their systems. First, we introduce a new solution, their strikes become ineffective, and then they begin to evolve and improve their drones,” he added.
He also noted that in some areas Ukrainian specialists are ahead of their Russian counterparts, thanks to their ability to anticipate the enemy’s next steps.
As previously reported, during a meeting between Major General Hennadii Shapovalov, Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, and Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, Commander of the Finnish Ground Forces, foreign partners were briefed on the security situation near Ukraine’s borders.
