Russian strike on Chernihiv energy facility leaves 6,000 without power
Russian forces struck critical infrastructure in the city of Chernihiv overnight into Friday, April 17, sparking fires and cutting power to around 6,000 residents.
According to Ukrinform, Head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration Dmytro Bryzhynskyi reported the attack on Telegram.
“The enemy targeted critical facilities in the city. Fires broke out at the impact sites,” the post reads.
Regional energy provider Chernihivoblenergo confirmed that an energy facility in the Chernihiv district was damaged in the strike, leaving thousands of households in the city without electricity.
Earlier reports noted that Russian drone attacks had also temporarily disrupted power supply in the southern cities of Kherson and Mykolaiv.
