Kharkiv region expands mandatory evacuation zone for families with children

The Kharkiv Region Defense Council has expanded the zone of mandatory evacuation of families with children to include 23 additional settlements in the Kupiansk district.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the region's military administration, announced on Facebook that the decision was made at a meeting on April 15.

"This concerns the evacuation of residents, as well as the forced evacuation of families with children from 12 settlements in the Shevchenkove community. In total, we need to relocate 756 people from this sector to safer areas, including 74 children. A decision has also been made on the mandatory forced evacuation of families with children from 11 settlements in the Velykyi Burluk community. These are 34 families raising 54 children," Syniehubov said.

Logistical routes for the evacuation have already been arranged, he added.

On April 1, Syniehubov confirmed plans to expand the mandatory evacuation zone for families with children in the Kupiansk district, possibly introducing forced evacuation measures immediately.

Earlier, families with children had already been evacuated from the villages of Liutivka, Makarove, and Svitlychne in the border Zolochiv community of the Bohodukhiv district.
