War update: 56 combat clashes since morning, Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions remain most active
The Russian army has attacked the positions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine 56 times since the start of the day. The enemy is exerting the greatest pressure on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this on Facebook, releasing operational information as of 16:00 on Monday, April 6, according to Ukrinform.
Today, the Russians shelled Iskryskivshchyna, Neskuchne, Bezsalivka, Korenok, Bachivsk, Atynske, Rohizne, Stepanivka, Vovkivka, Malushyne, and Volfyne in Sumy region, as well as Tymonovychi in Chernihiv region.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk directions, one combat encounter was recorded. In this section of the front, the invaders shelled settlements and Defense Forces positions 44 times, including four times with multiple launch rocket systems, and also struck with four guided bombs.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction, Russian forces twice attempted to improve their positions in the areas of Starytsia and Kolodiazne.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy carried out assault actions four times in the areas of Pishchane and Novoosynove.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled one attempt by the Russians to advance toward Lyman.
In the Sloviansk direction, the Russian army twice attempted to advance on Ukrainian positions toward Yampil and Rai-Oleksandrivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russians attacked twice in the areas of Pryvillia and Markove; one attack is ongoing.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, the invaders carried out 14 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiyivka, Kleban-Byk, Stepanivka, Illinivka, Rusyn Yar, and Sofiivka. Two assault actions are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, since the beginning of the day, the Russian army has attempted 15 times to push defenders from their positions in the areas of Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, and Novomykolaivka. One enemy assault is ongoing.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Russian forces attacked eight times toward Ivanivka, Myrne, Lisne, Kalynivske, Pryvillia, Verbove, and Zlahoda. Four enemy assaults are ongoing.
The invaders also struck the areas of Orly and Novoselivka from the air.
In the Huliaipole direction, the Russian army attacked three times toward Defense Forces positions in the areas of Pryluky and Zaliznychne. One of these attacks is ongoing.
Enemy aviation struck Verkhnia Tersa and Huliaipole.
In the Orikhiv direction, the Russians carried out an assault in the area of Shcherbaky and struck from the air in the areas of Zhovtneve, Hryhorivka, and Veselianka.
In the Prydniprovske direction, the invaders carried out three assault actions toward Bilohrudyi Island and the Antonivskyi Bridge. Two combat encounters are ongoing.
In other directions of the front, the situation remains without significant changes. The Russian army has not succeeded in advancing.
The Ukrainian military is exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear.
As Ukrinform reported, within the operation in the Oleksandrivka direction, the Defense Forces have already regained control over 12 settlements.
