Over the past year, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has carried out dozens of unique special operations, including the most well-known one, codenamed "Spiderweb."

According to materials provided to Ukrinform by the SBU press service, "Spiderweb" was the agency's most successful operation, during which 41 Russian military aircraft, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22M3, and Tu-160, were simultaneously struck at four airfields deep behind enemy lines.

"In a single day, 34% of Russia's strategic aircraft were put out of action, with estimated losses exceeding $7 billion," the statement said.

The SBU also carried out a third strike on the Crimean Bridge in June 2025, hitting it underwater and significantly damaging the supports of the illegal structure.

Last year also saw the first-ever attack by an underwater drone, "Sub Sea Baby," on a Russian submarine in the port of Novorossiysk. The submarine, which was equipped with Kalibr missile launch systems, sustained critical damage.

The press service added that overall, from February 24, 2022, to mid-March 2026, SBU forces have struck more than 2,250 tanks, over 4,070 armored combat vehicles, more than 4,500 artillery systems, and over 700 air defense systems on the battlefield.

The effectiveness of the SBU is also reflected in state awards granted to its personnel: 2,267 officers have been decorated, including 32 who received the title of Hero of Ukraine (14 posthumously).

The Day of the Security Service of Ukraine is observed annually on March 25, marking the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the Law "On the Security Service of Ukraine" on March 25, 1992.

The holiday was established by a presidential decree signed by Leonid Kuchma on March 22, 2001.
