One person killed and two others wounded due to Russian shelling in Kherson region

In the Kherson region, one person was killed, and two others were wounded during the day as a result of drone attacks; the Russian troops also carried out a massive airstrike on populated areas, and a criminal proceeding has been launched.

According to Ukrinform, the Kherson Region Prosecutor’s Office reported this.

“According to the investigation, on March 16, 2026, the Russian military carried out a massive airstrike, targeting populated areas in the Kherson district of the region. Once again, they used artillery and various types of drones,” the statement reads.

As noted, as of 5:30 p.m., one person was confirmed dead, and two others were injured as a result of the Russian aggression.

In particular, around 12:10 p.m., the occupiers in Kherson dropped explosives from a UAV onto a civilian car. A 38-year-old female passenger was killed, and the 64-year-old driver of the car sustained shrapnel wounds.

In the morning, under similar circumstances in Kherson, the driver of another car was injured—the man was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

In addition, private homes, apartment buildings, an educational institution, utility structures, and cars were damaged.

Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of war crimes (as defined in Parts 1 and 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
