War update: 167 clashes on front lines, Pokrovsk sector is most active
Over the past 24 hours, on March 15, 167 combat clashes were reported between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders. The enemy was most active in the Pokrovsk sector, where 36 assaults took place.
According to Ukrinform, this is stated in a Facebook post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the situation as of 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16.
The enemy carried out 101 airstrikes, dropping 287 guided bombs. Additionally, it deployed 9,122 kamikaze drones and fired 3,525 rounds at populated areas and Ukrainian military positions, including 155 rounds from multiple launch rocket systems.
The Russian Federation’s army carried out airstrikes, particularly in the areas of the settlements of Ivanivka, Havrylivka, Prosiana, Kolomiitsi, Pokrovske, Orly, and Velykomykhailivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region; Charivne, Liubytske, Huliaipilske, Kopani, Myrne, Vozdvyzhivka, Verkhnia Tersa, Novoselivka, Barvinivka, Orikhiv, and Veselianka in the Zaporizhzhia region; and Mykilske and Lvove in the Kherson region.
The Defense Forces’ Air Force, Rocket Forces, and Artillery struck two areas of Russian troop concentration and three other key Russian targets.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the Defense Forces repelled four enemy assaults; the enemy carried out two airstrikes using four aerial bombs and conducted 99 shelling attacks, two of which involved multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Russian forces launched two assaults on Ukrainian positions near the village of Vilcha.
In the Kupiansk sector, the Russian army launched four attacks against the settlements of Kurylivka, Novoosynove, and Hlushkivka.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy attacked six times, specifically attempting to breach Ukrainian defenses toward the settlements of Dibrova, Lyman, and Drobysheve.
In the Sloviansk sector, the Defense Forces repelled 13 attempts by the invaders to advance in the areas of the settlements of Yampil, Zakitne, and Platonivka, as well as toward the settlements of Ozerne, Riznykivka, and Rai-Oleksandrivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders three times in the Stupochky area.
In the Kostiantynivka sector, the Russian army carried out 23 attacks toward Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Novopavlivka, as well as near the settlements of Pleshchiivka, Berestok, and Rusyn Yar.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 36 assaults by Russian forces toward the settlements of Vilne, Novooleksandrivka, Shevchenko, Toretske, Bilytske, and Nove Shakhove, as well as in the areas of the settlements of Zatyshok, Nykonorivka, Kotlyne, Novomykolaivka, Udachne, Novopidhorodne, Myrnohrad, Rodynske, Molodetske, and Filiia.
In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy launched 12 attacks in the areas of the settlements of Zelenyi Hai, Oleksandrohrad, Kalynivske, Berezove, Ternove, Pershotravneve, Novomykolaivka, Zlahoda, and toward Verbove.
In the Huliaipole sector, Russian invaders carried out 20 attacks in the vicinity of Huliaipole and toward Zaliznychne, Varvarivka, Sviatopetrivka, Olenokostiantynivka, and Charivne.
In the Orikhiv sector, one clash with Russian forces occurred near Pavlivka.
In the Prydniprovske sector, no enemy offensive operations were reported.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of the Russian army forming offensive groups were detected.
As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian troops from February 24, 2022, to March 16, 2026, in the war against Ukraine amount to approximately 1,279,930 personnel, including 760 over the past 24 hours.
