Russian drone explodes near checkpoint in Chernihiv region, one soldier killed, several injured

A Russian drone exploded near a checkpoint in the Chernihiv region on Sunday, killing one soldier and injuring several others.

According to Ukrinform, the head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration, Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, reported the incident on Facebook.

"In a nearby community, a UAV exploded close to a checkpoint. As a result of the explosion, two servicemen were wounded," Bryzhynskyi wrote.

He added that the injured soldiers are receiving all necessary medical assistance.

Later, Bryzhynskyi specified that the UAV struck near a checkpoint in the village of Novoselivka, part of the Kyselivka community in the Chernihiv district.

"As a result of the strike, one serviceman was killed and others were injured. A police officer was also wounded," he said.

Emergency services are currently working at the site, as unidentified explosive devices dropped from the drone continue detonating.
