Number of clashes in Kharkiv, Sumy regions and in Lyman sector significantly decreases in recent weeks – Trehubov

Over the past two weeks, a significant change in Russian battlefield behavior has been observed, particularly a decrease in the number of combat engagements in the area of responsibility of the Joint Forces Grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is linked to Russian troop regrouping and the loss of Starlink systems, which has complicated command and control for Russian forces.

Viktor Trehubov, head of the communications department of the Joint Forces Grouping, stated this during a TV broadcast, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"If we talk about this week and the previous one, the number of combat engagements has dropped significantly. I’m referring to our area of responsibility, which includes the Kharkiv region, the Lyman sector, and the eastern part of the Sumy region. The number of clashes here has decreased considerably," Trehubov said.

According to him, this is due to several factors. First, Russian forces are attempting to regroup and prepare for a spring campaign. Second, they are facing difficulties with command and control after losing Starlink systems and now need to develop new methods of managing their troops in order to maintain the level of operational effectiveness required in modern warfare.

He added that despite the decrease in enemy assault operations, the number of drone attacks and the use of KAB guided aerial bombs has not declined.

Commenting on the situation in Kupiansk, the spokesperson noted that Russian forces are not approaching the city itself; its defense is currently being maintained on the approaches to the city.

As Ukrinform previously reported, 118 combat engagements between the Defense Forces of Ukraine and Russian troops were recorded on the frontline on March 4. In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces carried out three attacks near Pishchane, Kurylivka, and Kivsharivka.
